Brian was over yesterday and we tried out a large scale version of the game using about 35 minis a side. The activation system and ranged combat really don’t scale well with that many figures.
And since that is how many minis I want to run in an average game the net result is that the core system needs to be scraped and reworked.
I was originally thinking of having individual miniatures activate but I am thinking that what needs to happen in a game of this scale is that activation should happen by units. which isn’t a major issue since I was intending that gamers would purchase units of 4-5 models when building their armies.
As well the system used to determine the result of ranged combat takes too long to resolve and that is going to need to be streamlined.
Back to the drawing board.
