UK Zombie Invasion

A parcel from Mantic Games arrived in the mail today with a Weird WWII German Zombies kit they created with Warlord Games. The parcel arrived in four days. People in the UK might complain about Royal Mail service but they can sure get parcels to Canada darned quick.

I’ve only had a quick look at the figures but both sets look quite good. Lots of detail on the Zombies and the Germans but it is immediately apparent that creating WWII zombies from the kits it going to be some work. I wasn’t going to pick these up as I wasn’t too interested in them until I saw some of the samples on the Mantic Games blog.

Oddly I only picked up a single set, not sure where my brain was, but I think these will make a great addition to the rank and file WWII zombie minis that I already have.

Zombies galore

Canada Post dropped off an order from West Wind Productions and I am now the proud owner of an additional 44 WWII Zombies :-) I picked up a German and Soviet Zombie horde (20 minis each) and four of the Soviet Zombie Bombs. I already have over 20 WWII German Zombies and I have plans that will require a huge number of them :-)

Thankfully they come with 30mm round-lipped bases so I can start assembling them ASAP. I think I’ll paint the Soviets first and then do the Germans as I already have German Zombies done and ready to game with.

AE-WWII Storming Carentan campaign game two

Today was the second game in the four game AE-WWII Storming Carentan campaign game. The first game saw the US take control of the bridge over the Madeleine River and this game required them to secure a bunker that was guarding the road into the city. The US forces were not able to control the bunker and were routed from the field. Sadly I forgot my camera so there aren’t any photos of the game.

Next AE-WWII campaign game

The next part of the AE-WWII Storming Caranten campaign is set to be played at Strategies on March 8th, 2008. Check out this Van gamers thread for details.

The Americans won the first game and so the second game has the US forces moving down the road towards Caranten until they run into a bunker that they need to reduce or capture in order to continue the advance.

While I was at the AE-WWII demo game yesterday I took some quick photos of some of the newer additions to my AE-WWII/Weird War collection.

AE-WWI demo game

So this Saturday (January 7th) was the first game of the four game AE-WWII campaign that I am using to demo the game at one of the local game stores, Strategies Games and Hobbies, here in Vancouver.

Due to some poor scheduling on my part the game wasn’t that well attended. This Saturday was also the monthly WCP Game Day as well as the first, and mandatory, day of the Blood Bowl Thunderbowl tournament.

I’ll be doing the next game on a Sunday :-)

Red Skull arrives

Picked some more minis up from Chad today (did a trade with him for painting in return for my Uncharted Seas Ork fleet) and I now have a painted AE-WWII GI Tesla team (made up of Artizan minis) but also a painted Red Skull figure to use with the Captain America miniature I had him paint.

The figure is actually one of the convention specials from Pulp Monster for use with their Pulp City Super Hero game but I will be using him as the villainous foil for Captain America.

Chad is also painting up the German Lab Rat mini as I realized that the army lists I drew up for Saturday both have a Mad Doktor in them. Oops.

More Weird War minis

I got a package in the mail today and it was the latest set of acquisitions for my Weird War gaming. The latest haul were:

3 AE-WWII American Robots
3 Emaciated Troopers
2 Feuersoldaten
two-man Artizan Late War German MG42 team
American GI Sergeant
Artizan Late War German w/ Mp40
Artizan German sniper

Now if you’ve been following my blog you’ll realise that this means that I now have 9 Robots and 9 Emaciated troopers. Recently Matt Hope, the AE-WWII designer, pointed out that you could actually fill out a German force with 12 Emaciated troopers so I may be painting three more of them up to have a force with noting but a Mad Doktor and Emaciated Troopers.

More AE-WWII minis coming

Its taken me a long time but I finally put the finishing touches on the bases for AE-WWII figures that Chad painted for me but they are finally done. I need to wait for the glue to dry on the bases and then seal them but I’ll have nine new figures to add to my German and American forces soon.

Pictures of the finished figs should be up tomorrow or Monday.
